Pirelli Cinturato P7 – Pirelli’s first green performance tyre

Pirelli blog post

As tyres have become more advanced over the years, they can have a more profound effect on your vehicle. This can come in the form of performance, safety and fuel economy. It is fuel economy where the Pirelli Cinturato P7 range really makes the name for itself. This is achieved by creating a tyre that has low rolling resistance, allowing for better fuel economy whilst also being better for the environment. In this article, we are going to run you through some of the features and technology that allow the Pirelli Cinturato P7 to be one of the greenest tyres on the market.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 features

Optimised tread pattern

Excellent grip whilst handling and braking is achieved with a new optimised tyre pattern. This pattern combines compact centre blocks with an innovative pattern, to greatly improve traction whilst braking and better responsiveness when handling. As well as this the centre block works to displace any water built up, avoiding aquaplaning.

Advanced tyre compounds

The Pirelli Cinturato P7 has been developed with advanced tyre compounds. This combined with centre ribs constructed into the tyre, ensure that maximum contact between the tyre and the road is achieved. This enhances grip whilst also distributing wear evenly across the tyre, avoiding balding spots.

Green performance

Green performance is one of the main attributes of the Pirelli Cinturato P7. It is achieved by the optimised tread pattern and the advanced tyre compound working to reduce the rolling resistance of the tyre. Reduced rolling resistance leads to better fuel economy for your car and reduced harmful emissions getting expelled into the atmosphere. This factor makes the Pirelli Cinturato P7 one of the greenest tyres on the market.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 available technology

Run flat

Run flat is a technology that ensures that your tyres can continue to be operational during a rapid loss of inflation.  This is possible through the use of reinforced sidewalls that can cope with the lack of air for a limited time. This makes your tyre safer and more convenient in the case of a blowout.

PNCS

PNCS (Pirelli Noise Cancelling System) is a technology used to enhance comfort by reducing external noise created by the tyre. This technology works due to a sound-absorbing device planted on the inside wall of the tyre. This device can reduce external tyre noise by half.

Puncture proof

Puncture proof technology works similar to run flat technology in the aspect that it is a technology used to allow you to carry on driving in the event of tyre damage that causes a loss of inflation. However, Puncture proof technology is different in the way that run flat is used. Puncture proof technology works by keeping the air in the tyre by forming a seal around the foreign object that has punctured the tyre.
