About Continental Tyres

Continental is a leading premium tyre manufacturer with more than 100 years history providing innovative tyre and driver safety technology. It is famous for inventing tyre treads (the grooves which expel water as you drive) and is very popular and respected around the world. Continental’s OE – Original Equipment – tyres are so highly regarded that they’re very often fitted by automotive manufacturers to their cars that leave the showroom.

Continental has announced that their new PremiumContact 6 tyre will be available for the start of the 2017 summer tyre season. These premium tyres have been developed to combine the perfect blend of ultra-high performance, comfort and safety in what will no doubt be one of Continental’s best tyres yet.

The Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres offer impeccable overall performance as well as outshining its ever so successful predecessors, ContiSportContact 5 and ContiPremiumContact5 in number of key areas. Due to the ability to offer exceptional all round performance, the Continental PremiumContact 6 will gradually replace the ContiSportContact 5 and the ContiPremiumContact5 tyres.

At Tyre Shopper we feel that the Continental PremiumContact 6 tyre should be your number 1 priority for the summer of 2017 and here is why:

Outstanding Braking Performance

In both wet and dry conditions, the Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres offer excellent braking responsiveness. The exceptional wet weather performance will undoubtedly come in handy for your ever so standard ‘British summer’ however if not, the braking effectiveness in dry conditions is just as efficient. Additional grip has been provided to ensure you feel comfortable when driving, no matter the conditions. The aspect of safety is an area which has been an ongoing focus of development for Continental.

Improvements in Mileage and Comfort

In terms of mileage a vast improvement of 15% can be seen, while exterior tyre/road noise has been significantly reduced by 10%. Continental has been well known for having a strong focus on safety when developing their tyres. Remarkably, Continental has continued this trend whilst ensuring the Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres also offer maximum comfort combined with the ability for increased miles.

Impeccable Steering Responsiveness

The Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres may be replacing the ContiSportContact 5 tyres however, Continental have continued to offer fantastic sporty handling characteristics. Handling properties of the PremiumContact 6 tyres were noted to be a 3% improvement on its predecessors. Additional grip has been provided by implementing the design of the SportContact 6 tyre, ensuring the flawless mix between performance and safety.

Liked : I purchased these as I ha previous experience with Contact 5 on my AMG Mercedes Estate. I was less than happy with the Bridgestone's fitted by Honda which produced a very hard ride. I had three punctures in the left front in 18months so when replacement required tried the Cont's. Needless to say I got a puncture in the same wheel with them so have had 5 Conti 6's Nothing to do with tyres rather rubbish builders dumping screws. Honda's now offer Conti's as an option apparently ?

Disliked : So far nothing if they work as well as my Conti 5 on the Merc I will be more than happy ( They are now in their third year and running well.)
