Some Background Information on Rover MG
Rover MG, the company was formed when BMW (owner of both the MG and Rover brands) sold parts of these brands to the Phoenix Four Consortium in 1999. (The deal did not include the Land Rover that was separately sold to Ford or the Mini that BMW kept for itself). In 2005, embroiled in financial problems, the company was due to be taken over by Chinese auto major SAIC. But the deal fell through at the last minute and the company declared bankruptcy causing close to 30,000 job losses. Another Chinese company, NAC, later acquired Rover MG.(NAC later merged with SAIC, making the latter the owner of Rover MG). In 2007, Ford bought out the rights to the Rover brand, meaning that the SAIC can use only the MG name for its models.
So the Rover MG as a company does not exist anymore.
