Sept 2011: Pirelli Tyres having a fun filled day
It was a real fun filled day at the Donington Park grounds. The Pirelli trackday riders arrived at a joyous reception at the Donington Park with a group of over enthusiastic Samsung Crescent BSB squad.
This event was organised just before the 2011 MCE Insurance British Super bike Championship on 9/11.
The Pirelli tyres trackday riders were designed just for events of this nature where the tyres are subjected to a lot of wear and tear. The unique design of these tyres makes it an excellent companion for road and track events on motorbikes. Its design has become a bench mark in the motorcycle track events with its superb support in inclination and realignment at the bends in the tracks.
Donnington Park also witnessed the Pirelli’s BSB technician’s active participation in the event. They were ever ready to advise the eager participants about the correct tyre selection, its wear and tear and the best tyre pressure for events of this nature.
In this pre British Super Bike race, the participants had to pay an initial amount of only £25. But the fun part was that they could win back the same amount for buying new Pirelli tyres and branded clothing.
Jon Kirkham, who is a Samsung Crescent rider and a local hero, expressed his joy at seeing nearly two hundred fellow Pirelli riders show so much enthusiasm at the Donnington Park event. He was highly excited to be participating in such an event just before the real test later in the weekend, more so because he was getting a chance to ride before his home crowd.
The event saw a large crowd of Pirelli staff at the event eagerly participating in showcasing the best that Pirelli had to offer. Two of the well known sales agents from Pirelli showed their skills on bikes in front of the large crowd of eager spectators.
Iain Duffus, the TT champion and Terry Rhymer, the ex-British Superbike Champion did some spectacular manoeuvres on their bikes and proved their mettle on the tracks once again.
Todd Rutt, the Pirelli Moto UK National Sales Manager, said that Pirelli loved to be a part of events organised on the motorcycle tracks. These tracks gave the company an excellent opportunity to showcase their latest improved tyres meant for track events.
Bike riders with different level of expertise had a chance to ride these bikes fitted with trackday riders. The company looked forward to the feedback that they got from the participants on the spot. This helped them to learn about the shortcomings, which further helped the company to improve the quality of the tyres. He also expressed his happiness and satisfaction at the successful completion of the Donnington event with full participation of BSB teams along with Crescent Riders.
