Nov 2011: Porsche and Goodyear to Enter into New Partnership
Leading tyre manufacturer Goodyear tyres and luxury car manufacturer Porsche are all set to enter into a new partnership that promises to be beneficial to both parties involved. Goodyear announced that they will supply tyres as original equipment in the new Porsche 911 Carrera 2.
The Tyres
Official sources from Goodyear revealed that the tyres which will be fitted on the Porsche 911 Carrera 2 are the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres manufactured by the company.
The size requirement by the Porsche for the front wheel is the 235/40 ZR 19. The rear requires the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyre to be of the size 285/35ZR 19.
About the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Tyres
This brand of tyres from Goodyear recently won the 2011 Auto Express tyre test. The tyre incorporates Goodyear’s patented ‘active braking’ technology.
This technology is a specialized tread design that facilitates improved response to braking by increasing the surface contact area. As a result, it reduces braking distances on wet and dry roads and helps bring vehicles to a standstill in lesser time.
