May 2012: Federal Tyre Will Launch New Winter Tyre Range

The Taiwanese tyre manufacturer, Federal, will show a new range of winter tyres at the Reifen presentation in Germany this June. The new Federal tyres are the Himalaya ICEO winter tyre line and the main focus is on consumers from Russia, Northern Europe and Japan.

The new Himalaya tyre rage will initially come in sizes from 155/70R13 to 245/45R18, with the line expanding gradually throughout the year.

The Himalaya ICEO has a new compound, a form of high distribution silica which combined with superior compounding will offer the tyre improved grip which is essential in harsh winter road conditions.

The design of the tyre also greatly influences the traction abilities of the tyre. It comes with numerous 3D tread sipes which increase traction in winter conditions as they remove slush and water between the surface and the tyre. The centre of the tyre contains a unique grove which is quite thin and unique, which improves grip on icy environments.

The additional circumferential tread pitches significantly reduce the noise of the tyres and they give a more silent and smooth drive even in harsh weather conditions.
