Feb 2012: TyreSafe All Set to Usher in ‘Safe’ 2012 with New Campaigns

UK’s leading tyre safety organisation, TyreSafe, is busy implementing the various campaigns designed for 2012. The organization has lined up a series of innovative campaigns directed at different user groups to drive home the important message of tyre safety.

The aim of TyreSafe is to educate the public in general and drivers in particular about the dangers associated with defective and illegal tyres. Also TyreSafe intends, through its various campaigns, to reiterate that timely checking; and review of various tyre parameters play an important role in preventing (often fatal) motor accidents.

The Campaigns for 2012

Since its inception in 2006, TyreSafe is known for its innovative campaigns, aimed not only at reaching a wide target audience, but which also make a maximum impact on the audience. TyreSafe intends to start the 2012 campaigns by targeting two specific and important user groups – fleet operators and drivers and young motorists.

The Significance of these Target Groups

According to TyreSafe Chairman, Mr. Stuart Jackson, the decision to target young motorists was a deliberate one. Young motorists refer to young people who have probably just started driving.

Mr. Jackson feels (and one has to agree with him) that this is best time to introduce them to ‘safe tyre’ habits. We all know that habits introduced early tend to remain longer and are harder to let go. The campaigns targeted towards young motorists intend to inculcate in them the habit of regularly checking tyre pressure and other tyre parameters that ensure maximum safety during driving.

Coming to fleet operators and drivers, this is yet another important group that makes commercial use of vehicles for running their businesses.

Mr. Jackson reiterated the need for tighter procedures in place to ensure that businesses regularly review and check the tyre conditions of their fleet. Such a check reduces considerably the chances of unexpected vehicle breakdowns and accidents, which not only result in financial losses for business, but can also affect the overall morale considerably. Besides, regular checking ensures longevity of tyres that can translate into considerable cost savings across the fleet.

TyreSafe Plans for the Campaign

It is learned that TyreSafe will unveil shortly a high profile ‘face’ behind these campaigns. This personality will urge young drivers and fleet operators to keep their tyres under check at all times.

Mr. Jackson further added that the overall aim of the campaign will be to ensure that each driver understands that it is his (or her) responsibility to routinely check tyres and take appropriate action as needed. After all, tyre safety is an important parameter that ensures motor safety.
