Feb 2012: Introducing Pirelli P Zero Silver – Directly Derived from F1 for Road
Italian tyre major Pirelli tyres recently announced the launch of its newest product - P Zero Silver. This tyre is special because it is the first tyre for road cars that Pirelli has derived directly from its F1 tyres.
The P Zero Silver is an extension of Pirelli’s popular F1 range - the P Zero. The new product was launched at Jerez, Spain, last week, when the tests to mark the launch of the 2012 F1 season were taking place.
The Details
Pirelli sources revealed that the P Zero Silver has been developed specifically for sports cars and sporting saloons.
Using the technology which powered the P Zero range seen on the F1 circuit last year, the P Zero Silver is a high performance, high durability tyre suitable for long distances.
It is ideal for people who love to drive and drive long distances everyday. If you cover more than 20,000 km annually and mostly on motorways, the P Zero Silver is the ideal tyre for you.
Pirelli sources mentioned that this is the first in the range of highly specialized road car tyres, prompting us to be hopeful that there are exciting products in the pipeline. Only time will tell. In the meantime, let us examine the product at hand.
The P Zero Silver Features
In the development of the P Zero Silver, two basic parameters that have been focused on by Pirelli are performance and durability.
The tyre incorporates the key technology and design features of the P Zero range and makes those superior on track benefits available to motorists for their regular road driving.
The development of the P Zero Silver tread design and the compound and structure are aimed towards maintaining the tyre profile intact.
As a result, the deformation of the tyre profile by external factors is significantly reduced. This lengthens the tyre life and also ensures consistency of performance through the entire life. Official sources at Pirelli commented during the launch that the P Zero Silver has been developed “for drivers who enjoy performance and use their cars frequently”.
The P Zero Silver offers a unique opportunity to motorists to take advantage of the product processes and innovations that were part of the P Zero design during the last F1.
The tyre development is based on the same mathematical model process that served as the base for the development of the P Zero range for the F1.
In fact, Pirelli has used the same computer simulation system, which enables the tyre’s behaviour and performance to be reviewed under varying conditions.
The new tyres will be produced using the MIRS system used for the P Zero range production, which ensures maximum quality and precision
Sizes and Availability
Pirelli sources confirmed that the P Zero Silver tyres will be available in eight sizes to fit 19 and 20 inch alloys.
The focus will particularly be on tyres with W, Y and Z speed ratings in combination with 19 inch wheels. The P Zero Silver will be available for sale in the European market in April 2012. But it will most likely appear as a limited edition product.
Grab the opportunity if you want an F1 like experience on your car on the public roads. The P Zero Silver promises you that.
