Continental All Set to Launch Next Generation Attack Range of Motorcycle Tyres
Continental tyres announced that they are all set to launch the next generation of tyres in the popular Conti Attack range of motorcycle tyres. This range currently includes the ContiSportAttack 2, the RaceAttack and the RoadAttack 2 tyres.
Let us look at the details for each product.
The New ContiSportAttack 2
The Continental ContiSportAttack 2 tyres occupy leadership position in the highly contested sport/hypersport sector of motorcycle tyres. According to Cambrian Tyres, UK distributors of Continental’s motorcycle range, the next generation ContiSportAttack 2 offers improved performance as compared to its predecessor. The performance has significantly improved particularly in areas of wet grip, mileage and handling.
This has been possible due to the use of latest compound technology in the new product. Also the new ContiSportAttack 2 gets Continental’s patented Traction Skin. The Traction Skin ensures that the tread surface gets a micro rough finish. As a result, the running-in procedure is minimized, which increases tyre safety, particularly when the tyre is new. This occurs because the Traction Skin micro-roughness enhances the mechanical adhesion of the tyre to the road surface. So, new tyres ‘break in’ much faster.
The new ContiSportAttack 2 has been selected as the original equipment tyre for the BMW 1000RR sports bike. A commendable achievement for a tyre that is still in its first year of launch.
The ContiRoadAttack 2 Range Extended
Continental has extended its popular ContiRoadAttack 2 range by the addition of a new GT model. This version has been developed specifically to improve performance and safety in the heavier sport touring bikes and big naked bikes. The RoadAttack 2 GT is equipped with an additional belt in the front and rear tyres. Cambrian claims that the tyre will offer improved durability and braking stability and more consistent performance throughout the tyre life. This tyre is suitable for fitting on bikes like the BMW R1200 RT and the Suzuki Bandit 1250.
The ContiRoadAttack 2 GT incorporates the Traction Skin technology and Continental’s Continuous Compound Technology (CCT). The CCT ensures better mileage due to a wear resistant central area. At the same time, safety during cornering is enhanced due to better grip in the shoulder area. The uniqueness of the CCT technology is that it utilizes a single tread compound that takes on dual properties due to the manner in which it is processed. Also care is taken to ensure a smooth transition from central to shoulder compound so that the handling characteristics are not compromised.
Continental confirmed that the ContiRoadAttck 2 GT will be available in two sizes – 120/70 ZR17(58 W) and 180/55 ZR 17(73W). Both are tubeless fittings.
The New ContiRaceAttack
The RaceAttack range caters mainly to vehicles meant for high performance road riding with an occasional track outing thrown in. The new tyre is impressively called the RaceAttack Comp Endurance. The tyre incorporates new compound technologies and the profile is changed to accommodate a bigger contact patch. As a result of these properties, the Comp Endurance offers better corner grip and precise handling to riders.
