26/03/2012: Hankook Launches latest Light Truck Tyre - Vantra LT

Hankook recently announced the expansion of its light commercial vehicle range with the launch of Vantra LT. The Vantra LT range represents an all season light truck tyre.

Vantra LT Details

Hankook officials confirmed that the Vantra LT range has been developed specifically for catering to the demands of the passenger and cargo transportation lorries in the regional haul sector.

To enable fitment on a wide range of axles, the Vantra LT is available in 34 sizes covering 14 to 16 inches in rim diameter and in series from 82 to 60.

The tread width on the Vantra LT range extends from 165 to 235. All Vantra LT tyres have ‘M+S’ marking indicating that they are suitable for use in mud and snow conditions.

Features of the Vantra LT

Official Hankook sources revealed that fuel efficiency, durability and mileage were key factors considered while developing the Vantra LT range.

Due attention was also paid to safety related factors like short braking distances and improved wet performance during design development. The vehicles in the regional haul sector whether carrying passengers or cargo, are subject to frequent ‘start and stop’.

As a result, any tyre catering to this category needs to focus on longer life and tyre durability and enhanced fuel economy in addition to of course safety features.

Technology used in Vantra LT

Hankook has incorporated a unique side wall protect shield into its design and has optimized the groove location on the tread so as to maximise the long-lasting contact patch.

This technology ensures protection even at soaring speeds and enables increased performance, while significantly reducing the tread wear.

The Vantra LT is equipped with a contact-patch technology.

This unique square form ensures greater steadiness. In addition, the tyre has a toughened belt configuration (with a dual steel belt) for an enhanced and smooth distribution of ground pressure.

These two features combined together improve the wear performance of the Vantra LT by 12% over its predecessor. Also because the wear on the tyre is minimised, the tyre deformation is reduced, lowering the rolling resistance and contributing significantly to improvement in fuel efficiency and thus long term cost savings.

Studies conducted reveal that in the Hankook Vantra LT, the fuel efficiency is up by 13% as compared to the earlier model.

The tread pattern incorporates wide central grooves in 3 channels and 3D lateral grooves, which help to effectively deflect water to enhance performance and safety on wet surface conditions.

This tread design reduces wet braking distances and successfully checks hydroplaning.

The Vantra LT tread design ensures that the tread block stiffness is maintained at all times, so that tyre handling is precise and driving is smooth in dry, wet or even wintry climate.
